Lovey has arrived... First (of many) questions.

Well... vacuum issue is obvious since anything and everything that is vac. operated doesn't seem to work.

So... would this effect the brakes? Right now, you have to really hammer them to get it to stop. A *VERY* hard push to get it to stop.

The power locks do not work, and it doesn't shut off with key... these two things I believe, from what I've learned here are vac. related... what about the brakes?

I still need to do a search, but if any kind soul wants to point me toward a post or DIY... that would be awesome.

Thanks

GD

Check the main vacuum line running from the vacuum pump to the brake booster. If no obvious cracks/breaks/leaks, suggest testing the vacuum pump. You should see something like 20-22 inches HG from the pump (dieselheads, correct me if I'm wrong).

It definitely sounds like either the vacuum pump's non-op or the "main" vacuum line going to the brake booster has a hole in it.

Mine has two nipples that the rest of the vacuum system draws from, and I accidentally broke one of them when I did my first oil change. I didn't even realize that I had broken it at the time, but sure enough, anything that had anything to do with vacuum stopped working. Was a PITA to have to pop the hood to shut the engine off every time, while waiting on a new line from Fastlane...

In a way, it's good news that none of the vacuum stuff works on your car. That narrows it down to a few possibilities...otherwise, you could drive yourself nuts looking for the problem (can be harder than tracing an electrical short).

Sounds like fun...good luck! And congrats on getting your hands on Lovey

Here's a good thread on vacuum: click. Of course I'm a little biased.
