Question ASD control unit

My ASD (automatic locking differential) warning lamp is on all the time. No error code can be retrieved from the control unit because the readout pin of the test connector goes to the same pin as the warning lamp (the diode of the pulse reader stays constantly on like the warning lamp).

It looks like an internal short circuit in the unit : will I need a new one (I'm afraid that the item is very pricy) or is there someone who had already encountered the problem and found another way around ?

With snow coming soon, ASD is a nice thing to have.
