Trans cooler suggestions

Hey gang,
I'm looking for suggestions on what to do with the transmission cooler on Marlene when I convert her to manual shift.

Ideally, I'd like to plug the ports on the radiator but where do you get metric plugs? Other than plugs, what other alternatives are there?

Enquiring minds want to know.

I am not sure what size plug you need, but try http://fittingsandadapters.com/metric.html. They might have the size/threads you are looking for.

Excellent resource! Anyone have an idea what size those threads are on the cooler?

Hydraulic Shop

Any good hydraulic shop that makes hydraulic hoses etc. should have metric plugs and caps etc...at reasonable prices...

If I may offer another suggestion...how about running a different fluid through there?

I can't remember if these cars already have a power steering fluid cooler or an engine oil cooler, but I imagine that it wouldn't be difficult to make the old tranny oil cooler serve that purpose.

Another thought, if feasible, would be to keep it a tranny oil cooler...for the manual. I know that some manual trannies (the ZF 6 speed that Ford uses in their trucks, for example) get warm enough that a cooler's actually necessary. I'm sure that this tranny won't routinely get that warm, but every little bit helps.

Just a thought...good luck!

Open up the top and make a container to put Meyer's sausage into ... to keep it warm until you get to your destination.

Yum!

But I always thought that's what the 'turbo tube-o cooker' was for.

Hehe...does that mean you must adjust your ALDA if you want more sausage? And are the poor folks running 616 and 617 non-turbo prime movers gonna go hungry?
