Copious amount of water in trunk

My '82 240 (W123) leaks into the trunk at every rain. I see it dripping from the under side of the parcel shelf. I understand that the backlight gaskets are prone to leaking, but I have sealed mine with no reduction in the flow of water--I expected at least a reduction.
I wonder if I am pursuing the wrong leak. Where do the vents in the rain gutter at the rear of the rear door openings drain. Is it possible that a drain hose ( if any) is missing? How do I access the area? What am I looking for?

ps. no sunroof, so I don't think thats the problem.

May be the rear window seal...

I think the water in my trunk is a leaking rear window seal. I have a very small amount of water. Ths seal will need replacing soon...

Very likely it's the rear window seal. It's not uncommon for there to be a hidden rust hole under the seal.

If it only accumulates water in the passenger side, look inside the trunk, make sure the diesel fuel filler drain pipe is connected and not leaking. P.O. of my car disconnected the drain pipe and plenty water in the side well.

Rubber/plastic liners on both sides of trunk are easy to remove.... its one or two phillips screws (i think) and then you pull the rubber liner out...... Underneath you will find finger hole size rubber drain that can be poked clear to drain the water..... I threw both my rubber trunk liners in the trash, knowing I'd like to keep an eye on the drain plugs...... after finding about 4" of standing water on passenger side - and maybe 2" of water on drivers side hidden underneath the dopey rubber trunk well liners.
