Smile My new 300SD!

I just bought my first MB *and* my first diesel car today! It's a 1984 300SD, metallic silver with black leather.

After spending about an entire (work) day reading your messages on this forum, I decided I was going to buy the car. It was one I found in a local car trader magazine and ended up paying $1800 Canadian dollars, which works out to about $2400 USD.

The car has 415,000 *kilometers* (257k miles), with a rebuilt engine with 60,000 km on the rebuild. The interior is very clean with just a small tear on the drivers seat. Body has some minor rust, a couple spots where it's starting to bubble through near the wheels, but not bad overall.

I'm still not sure what to think I think I got a good buy. We'll see how much it ends up costing me over the next year or two though. Anyway, this forum is great and I'm looking forward to using the vast knowledge gathered here to help me keep my car running smoothly!

Bummer about the rust tho'. It only gets worse. Check all the under side carefully!

You want to get at that rust early, before it eats up the lips of the wheel arches.

Grind it down flush with the car's paint, seam seal it, and touch it up carefully.

Pretty looking W126; those wheels make the car stand out. The 14" wheels BELONGED on the W116 S-Class, not the W126.

My humble opinion.

I thought the US /Canada exchange rate was the other way around.Nice looking SD you don't see a lot of silver ones I think it works as well on the 126 as it did on the Gullwing............

Ahhh.. I did make a mistake there! What I meant was.. I paid C$1800 which really is about US$1300. Well that sounds a bit better

Since you are in Canada, you're out of my jurisdiction. Otherwise, I'd have to arrest you for "stealing" that car! Dep. Sheriff B. Fife.
