I know you are going to ask about this

I don't know about a " sealer".. but I always glue rubber gaskets to the side I want it to stick to.. ie, which ever is moveable and easier to clean up when replaceing it next time...
I use 3M yellow super trim adhesive... ( commonly known as " yellow death' )
With a clean NEW gasket... apply to both surfaces which are to be stuck together... and LET it tack for a few minutes... this is a contact cement... that is standard procedure...
then stick them together and torque to specs or slightly less..
most gasket leaking is due to OVER torqueing....
Let sit overnight before starting the engine....

ps, this is funny , it not only posted my answer before his question.. but let me change the name of the thread... LOL
Who is in charge here ?

Think I would look for another valve cover at the wrecking yard, It sounds seriously tweeked. Or maybe Leathermangs contact cement would be the easiest

Hummm...must be sun spots

Angry So sick of this valve cover leak

83 300D has the valve cover from hell. No matter if it's torqued to specs, or finessed with elbow torque this thing leaks. I've gone through three gaskets and this last time has been the worst leak yet. I've started to think the unthinkable...using sealer on a rubber molded gasket. Sick of parking on plywood in my driveway!@@&@^@^#%@^@&^@!

One other thing that you probably already know, is you must get ALL the oil wiped off the head where the rubber gasket seats or it will leak. Good luck

Yep, all oil has been cleaned off surfaces before installation every time. I've been thinking about Permatex aviation gasket liquid next time. usually I use it to seal bolt threads that go into coolant or oil passages.

"gorilla snot"

That should do it..... Is that the stuff in the little round can with a pic of a young lady with her dress blowing up . Not many illustrations like that around anymore.

Ya, I figured you had that one down but thought I would mention it just in case.
