Sad Day

Well it is not been a good weekend. I crashed the 300td it was not nice and I feel that if I had not been in it I would have been killed. Ran off the road and hit a tree and then went nose down into the creek. Not a nice experience. No I was not drunk I went into a curve way to fast. I was surprised because when the truck pulled it out it started up and I drove it home. It does now have some crazy steering. I think it can be fixed and I am going to try it. It is going to need passenger door and fender and windshield because the windshield post is bent in like three inches. I am more wooried about the steering than anything. Any Ideas as to what it could be. I figure one of the steering links is bent. If it can't be fixed will the engine in a 85td fit an 84sd

Have a great day

Dieselman,

Sorry to hear about your accident but you must be more careful. At least you didn't have a head on collision.

Probably the tie rod is bent and the wheels are badly out of alignment.

I would worry more about the bent windshield post. That's not a DIY project.

I'm glad you are going to fix it. I hate to see another MBjunked.

I know I know..... I would never junk it. I think it can be pulled out but I really crashed into that tree hard. My dad says they can heat it and then pull it out. Off to the body shop it goes....

With the window post pushed in that far you may have to have it put on a frame machine. In fact I would have it put on just to see if it is all still in line.

That is one of the things I am worried about. I almost feel that I screwed the whole body up on the car. I think she is okay I will see if I can get some pics.

I know the windshield is moved on the drivers side and the fender on the drivers side is also moved. My dad said no the rest of the car is fine. That is why I am considering taking the engine and trans and putting them in the 126 if they will work because I feel that the whole thing is damaged

If your are friendly with someone at a body shop have them put it on the frame machine and see how bad it is. You would be suprised what a couple of hours on it would straighten out. The cost may suprise you
