A/C belt
Ok, would it hurt my A/C or anything else if I just didn't use a belt on the compresser, and yes my A/C doesn't work, needs freon. But I'm changing my belts and it would make it alot easier if I didn't have to put a belt on my A/C compresser, and I see no point since I never use it anyways, but my question is, would it affect anything? Thanks for anyones help!

a/c belt
steve, i don't think it matters one way or the other but i would put it back on even if your a/c doesn't work.
my a/c didn't work for years and the belt just spun around in "neutral" anyhow, so i couldn't see how taking the belt off would improve anything like performance or mileage. then i charged the a/c on a flyer just to see what would happen and was a happy guy this past summer! good luck!

It wouldn't hurt. You will get corrosion on the pulley surfaces. This could be a minor problem when you decide to repair the a/c.

I agree with Kestas and that keeping the belt on will keep the A/C clutch from seizing up and in addition you might want to turn on the A/C to keep the pump lubricated so it doesn't seize up on you. There's oil in the A/C system in addition to the Freon.

The oil circulates with the refrigerant gas so you don't get lube w/o having gas
