air filter bracket removal

Hi,

OK, maybe this is a really dumb question, but i cannot figure out how to remove the air filter bracket. I can get the bolts on the top of it off, but then there is the one that is directly below the bracket, which goes into the engine block. I cannot get tools in there to get it out, because there is too much interference from the exhaust and turbo.

can somebody please explain how to get the stinking air filter mounting bracket off of the engine?

Thanks very much,

JMH

I replaced the one on my '85. I don't remember exactly how I did it anymore but I do remember having trouble with one bolt. I might have disconnected one of the oil lines to/from the turbo to get it off but I really can't remember. Sorry I couldn't be of more help.

Hmmm, I'm also curious. Noticed last night that my air cleaner does not seem to be attached to anything below. Have three bolts that come thru, but they just seem to rest on the block/turbo. ??? Also getting some oil in there, so am going to do a search on that...maybe it has some connection with the EGR...Thank goodness for the search function on this board!
