How to identify engine

Hello All.

Being relatively new to the diesel world I need help to identify the nomenclature for my MB-compatible engine (and trans if possible)

I live outside the US and own a SsangYong SUV Rexton Turbodiesel with the MB 5 cylinder 2.9 liter turbo engine. Well, the engine is licensed by MB but made by the koreans.

I am interested on power mods since the heavy SUV struggles with the stock 120HP from the engine. The engine looks like the older MB engines since it is indirect injection, the EGR and other emissions purely mechanical.

I have already disconnected the EGR and put an "elephant hose" mod to the CCV. Also adjusted the accelerator linkage to improve response. Looks like these mods helped a little but consumption has increased like 15% (ouch!!)

I have seen the ALDA mod around and looks very, very interesting. I need help on how to properly identify what engine I have to search the forums for the most compatible threads on my engine.

Thx for replies.

Sorry, my digital camera is not good.

However, I got a the reference OM662LA for the engine from the owner's manual. Does this help??

Also I was looking for the ALDA in the injector pump and the only thing similar is rounded with a vacuum hose connected to it from the intake manifold. Is that the ALDA in my case??

Thx

Well the thing surely was the ALDA, even though for my engine was circular instead of square and without screws on the corners.

I removed the plastic cap and loosened the lock screw but...the adjusting screw is impossible to reach from above!! The intake manifold is too close above it.

So, the other way would be to remove the ALDA unlocking the mounting nuts but now I begin to wonder if this mod worth this hassle?? Can I break a seal or something else removing the ALDA??

My SUV is new, still under warranty so you might understang my worries.

Any suggestions or opinions??

Thx
