Ignition Lock Assembly Question
I need to replace the 'ignition lock assembly' (tumbler, lock, etc) on my 1985 300SD. It is completely shot and only starts with a remote starter rig.
The majority of the unit seems interchangable with the 123 series parts. Fastlane lists the same part numbers, etc. Upon inspection, the wires attaching to the ignition switch do so in a different way. Also, the shaft protruding towards the steering column seems a bit different. QUESTION: Has anyone found the 123 parts compatible with the SD parts? I have the tumbler removed and that is interchangable. Its the parts beyond it that seem a bit different. Thanks Don

They Look Different
the 123 and 126 ignitions look a little different to me.......I have looked at a half dozen and they look different...and on the ignition one has a 123 and the other has 126 on their parts numbers(this is on the underside of the ignition)...Jim

Jim:
Thanks for the observation. That confirms my fears. I don't want to buy a new one when I have a bunch of used 123's laying around. Thanks Don
