Also interested in windshield cost.......

As long as someone is asking about replacement glass, I'm going to replace the windshield after the winter is over to get rid of the pits in it - anybody have an idea how much that will cost?

rdsw: Stand by on that replacement. Tomorrow I'm trying a new product that claims to get rid of them by itself. I finally have time and the weather to apply it. We'll see. Results will be posted to this thread.

There are great differances in prices for car glass. Check with your insurance co, often they know where the best deals can be had. There are glass guys that come out to your home and I have found their prices very good.

I just checked the price on a rear glass for a 300SD several weeks ago. The glass place I went to said that their wasn't an aftermarket version of the back glass for this car. I don't have the quote in front of me but IIRC the price (installed) was just over $300 for the Mercedes glass. I remember checking with a Mercedes dealership about a year ago and they wanted $800+ for it (glass only)! You should definately go to a good independent glass place that gets discounts on the OEM glass.
