switching seats on a 84 td300
Hi I have a question with regards to seats. Since my drivers seat is beat up and torn and I expect many of the older ones are in the same condition. Would I be able to put a passenger seat in the drivers? Would I be able to swap seats that way? This for a 84 300td wagon.
Thanks Mannyt |

Sure, you can swap...but, you'll probably just want to change the seat bases since the seat backs have a "right and left".

Well, what Randy said may be easier said than done. The seat parts in my 240D were so rusted together that I gave up getting them apart. But you can swap the entire seats if you're willing to live with a few quirks. The backrest adjusters will be on the wrong side, the plastic trim pieces will have to be left off, and you'll lose the center arm rest (I didn't have one to start with). To remove the seats, just take out the 4 10mm bolts that hold the frame to the floor. You'll have to swap the seat belt parts from one to the other, but that should be pretty easy.
