It never ceases to amaze me how some knucklehead in his shop thinks he can get an extra 15-25 HP so easily where all the MB engineers would miss something so simple.

How nice would it be if this was for real. I did check the seller's ratings, and out of like 250, 98% were positive. He also has a similar kit for the 740/760 turbo volvos for sale on ebay. The website for his actual company is www.moguland.com if anyone wants to ask him about it.

Granted it's an apples to oranges comparison, but look at all the vehicles, such as the fox body mustang in v8 trim, that DO benifit a great deal from something as simple as removeing the silencer in the air box. It never hurts to give some thought to something and not dismiss it out of hand because XXX would have done XXX if it needed to be done.

Haha... good one. What about disabling the EGR? I doubt its "15-25 hp" but... a little better, no?

One thing to keep in mind is that M-B was juggling power and comfort. As the ad mentions, that air intake mod will increase the noise level considerably.

Personally, I think it's worth it just to get rid of the stock air cleaner setup. IMHO it's the one genuinely bad design on the 617...I would pay the $165 if I had the $$, but as it is, I'll probably see if I can put together something like that on my own...
