signs of oil in ignition switch/assembly

RE: 1984 300D Can anyone tell me what it means (also how serious) when there is oil coming through the vacuum lines leading up to the ignition switch assembly? I was dismantling the whole ignition the other day when I noticed a small amount of motor oil making its way through the two vacuum fittings that attach to the side of the assembly.

1. Where is this coming from?
2. How serious is this? Catastrophic?
3. How to fix it?

I'm sure this has been addressed before-Iwouldn't know where to look in a search, under "oil leak", "ignition", "injection pump".

Thanks.
