Say the flywheel is a little lighter why would that really matter. It might not be a good idea to rev it to 4000 and dump the clucth like we did our old Chevies but only then that the tranny might give way to the extra torque of the turbo 617. But I I'll bet the 240 manual is little different than other MB manuals in other words one tough unit.I had a friends 72 Euro 350 manual SL for a year and gave that transmissiom a healthy work out.My 115 240 is so over built that working on it is like working on earth moving equiptment...........

I don't think it's strictly a power issue per se, but could have something to do with the rather "sudden"
delivery of it at relatively low RPM's.

Another consideration is how flywheels affect crankshaft balance, differences in power delivery
(engine tuning) and et cetera...Who knows, you could end up with weird metal fractures or
accelerated bottom-end wear...more likely the engine will just run less efficient and lose torque. It
can be done of course...however, the results could be far less than 'optimum' or desirable.
