300TD Engine in the 300SD

Okay help me out here. Will the 85 engine bolt up to the 80 SD trans. What about doing a complete engine and trans swap. Also the hydraulic pump on the front. If I just leave it on will it mess up the engine. I need help on this one because I am taking the wagon which is still wrecked down to the shop today.

Thanks,

Dieselman

The transmissions should bolt up with no problem. If you can get a non-300TD head, you can swap them and not worry about the pump. If you can't, make a hydraulic loop so the pump won't grenade.

How is the pump driven? Maybe you eliminate the linkage by grinding off a key or flattening a cam. Can you hollow out an old pump case to use as a cover?
