question for changing fuel filter
i recently changed my fuel and all 5 injectors in my 300D 78 and i was wondering if it was me or if its my fuel primer pump that has gone bad. When i changed them out..someone in this forum suggested that it would take about a good 100 pumps to pump all the air out of the system before i start hearing the "farting" sound from the pump..LOL. anyways i did this about 100 -150 times and it was still going smooth with no sound..i didnt even feel that much resistance when pump the primer pump. I start to notice that fuel was leaking out of the primer pump on the edges and had caught my attention every time i pushed and pulled the knob.
It took me about a good minute of constant cranking to get the sucker to start back up again..(yeah i know, more than 30secs is devestating to the starter).....but that was the only way i could get the sucker to start back up.
is my primer pump gone bad...or is there something that i didnt do right?...also i did release the top bolt on the top of the fuel filter to bleed air though while i was pumping the primer out. but it was still hard to start the car..
your thoughts are appreciated
