Did you buy the one listed on Autotrader?

I think that is where I first saw the ad on the internet, so it could be the same one. I found another link to the same car, and never used the first one again.

http://www.dallasclassiccars.com/240%20D%20Mercedes%20main.htm

Do you know something that I need to know about the car?? I would appreciate any information that you might have, good or otherwise.

Thanks,
George

Nope, different car. That one is much nicer than the one on Autotrader.

Here is a discussion for the Autotrader car (the ad is now gone):

To look at it a little differently, I get about 400 miles

from each tank in my 240's...mixed city and highway driving.

I agree with TIM. How would a partially plugged fuel filter cause an engine to burn more fuel when the filter is limiting the amount of fuel the engine is getting.

That's like saying a water restrictor in your shower causes you to use more water.

I'm wondering if fuel starving (i.e. incorrect fuel/air mixture) would affect the efficiency of the engine (hence mileage)...

Nice looking car. Looks like you really scored there! I recently saw a local ad for a 240D manual tranny for sale here for $1,500 miles with only ~85k original miles and got really tempted. But I don't think my wife will go for it since we're already in the process of buying a nice '81 300TD! These cars really grow on ya! :p
