Does your Father or Wife want to kill you for messing up the driveway ??

Hey...

Just wondering if any of you are in the same boat as me. My father just paved a new driveway that is about 20 yards long. Cost him alot of money to do it but since I got this diesel everything is screwed up. I have oil stains all over the place, stains from chemicals, coolant etc. They are not there because they are leaking but because I'm always putting new parts on the car just out of sheer pleasure. My dad is finally getting pissed off and yelling all the time about his driveway. Any suggestions to get any of this stuff off ? It is the black-top type of driveway. I did try my fathers Power Washer and that made a few holes in the black-top. He still hasn't seen those yet.

Thanks

I'm sure there are others out there that would benefit from a good cleaning solution.:

Why not put a big piece of plastic
liner down before you put the car in
the drive way and before you work on it?

I use an old comforter, but you can use a tarp also.
Easy to clean too.

Louis.

I always got hell from my father about spilling oil on the driveway or on the garage floor way back when I was still living with my parents. No matter how hard I tried to put something under the cars I always managed to spill something. He made me scrub the garage floor and driveway on my hands and knees on many occasions. It was all concrete.

Yeah after my car we need to re-tar our driveway. Nothing can leak like an old MB.

With asphalt at least you can just retar it and never see it again. I'm always working/ parking on concrete so I just have carpet down under and around the cars. It helps keep moisture down when storing and keeps the oil off the concrete while working on it, and makes it a lot more comfortable to work on. Once it gets soiled enough with oil I just roll it up and set it out to the road and get another roll. But then again most people don't know anyone in the carpet business so getting good free carpet is kind of hard.

Carpet remnant during an oil change works well. An old piece of plywood under the car works well too – it absorbs well and heavy enough not to blow away.

go to harbor freight. the sell a cleaner that is for parts washers. when used with very little water it will clean up the oil. when i bought my parts washer i had to wait to set it up and the bottle of the solution had a leak. well it ate the paint on the bottom of the parts washer

unfortunately the oils mix in with the tar and change its appearance.

Only time and weather can make it dissappear..
After a year or two they will not be visible..

When you stop messin up the driveway buy a roller and driveway sealer from HD or Lowes and redo your Dad's entire driveway.

Hopefully its not 1000ft long.

Years ago when I spilled 8 qts of drained oil on the driveway and it soaked in new asphalt I did just that and never heard a peep.

Ive really messed up my mother's garage during my mercedes escapades. Before i move away this summer, i plan on getting as much oil as i can up off the cement, then painting the entire garage floor with that shop floor paint stuff. Itll be a nice suprise for her.

once while draining the cooling system on my 450SL the pan overflowed and spilled all down the side of the driveway. killed about an inch or 2 strip all down the one side, got in a tad bit of trouble for that one.

Before you go to work on it,go to wally world etc and look next to the adult diapers in the pharmacy section and find some absorbant underpads ( they're cheap) Those things are about 3' by 2' and will soak up just about anything. Lay a few undre the car before working on it and you won't spill a drop.
I do mobile service at peoples houses sometimes and it's no problem doing oil changes etc without leaving a spot.
