1983 300D Turbo-INSTR. CLUSTER REPL.
Need to replace cluster & found one at a local shop, however, it's for a 1985 300TD Turbo. Wondering if the TD's cluster is compatible with my 83 300D Turbo.
Thanks |

Speedometer calibration might be different due to the taller differential in the 85. But if your current speedo is working, you could swap it into the new cluster in just a couple minutes.

Please post what you find out. I have an 85 differential I am going to put in an 84 and wondered what is different, the cluster or trans gear?

With our 123 series, the calibration is in the speedo head.
If you put a 1985 version in a turbo version from 82-84, then if you were to put on, say, 195/75-14 size tires, then your calibration would be right on. Either way, with normal size or over-size tires, it will be very close, though, as the ratio difference is relatively small. |
