Question 1983 300D Turbo-INSTR. CLUSTER REPL.

Need to replace cluster & found one at a local shop, however, it's for a 1985 300TD Turbo. Wondering if the TD's cluster is compatible with my 83 300D Turbo.

Thanks

Speedometer calibration might be different due to the taller differential in the 85. But if your current speedo is working, you could swap it into the new cluster in just a couple minutes.

Please post what you find out. I have an 85 differential I am going to put in an 84 and wondered what is different, the cluster or trans gear?

With our 123 series, the calibration is in the speedo head.
If you put a 1985 version in a turbo version from 82-84, then if you were to put on, say, 195/75-14 size tires, then your calibration would be right on. Either way, with normal size or over-size tires, it will be very close, though, as the ratio difference is relatively small.
