How do I replace the power mirror switch?

I've searched but didn't come up with anything. How do I remove the power mirror switch that is in the console of my 1995 E300D? The old one broke and I have a replacement, but I'm not sure how to remove the old one. I'm concerned that I'll crack the wood or somehow break something. While I'm at it, I want to replace the light that has burned out in the shifter. If anyone out there has done this before or knows how to do it, please respond. I'd greatly appreciate it.

It was actually quite easy. In the lockable console box there are two screws. Remove those then lift out the box. When you get the box out of the way you will see another screw in the in the console area. Remove that one and you should be able to tilt the wood cover up and off- be careful not to force it or you will risk cracking the wood. The mirror switch should come out easily. Pop the new one in. It's that simple. I purchased the part from a local MB dealer, but there are several sources to buy the part from that are much less expensive than a dealer.

Sometimes the mirror switch will stay clipped to the wood, in which case you'll need to pry gently on the two tabs that hold it on.

The knob broke off. and it doesn't work at all when I try pushing it up down left or right... also under the arm rest/console I don't see any screws the box pops out when i depress a little button towards the front there are 2 vents under there. Maybe I have a different model?... Thanks!... Indy

Ever change the switch on a '97 W210

I had the same probelm - my mirror switch just came apart. called around got the part (which includes all the windo switches and the mirror swithc on a circuit board.

Is the removal of the wood the same in a W210 as in a '95?

To remove the console in the 96+ W210, remove the black plastic that surrounds the shifter (the rectangular one), then open the cup holder door and reach under the wood console that holds the switch and pull up steadily but gently, it will pop up, becareful because the wires for the window switches, trunk switch, and mirror switch will be attached..

Thanks, once I stopped sweating about cracking the veneer, it was pretty easy. Took me about 15 minutes. Thanks for the advice.

Rebel62,

Glad to help. Mine was stuck pretty good due to PO coffee spills. I cleaned everything really well before assembly. I am still trying to figure out where to find the small bulbs that light the window switches, and if in fact they can be replaced. I also have the problem the shift indicator lights all gear positions the shifter is in except Park. Can anyone tell me how if there is a separate bulb for the Park position?? TIA
Dennis
