What could this sound be?
I am hearing a high pitched whine that sounds like it is coming from the right rear wheel area ocassionally. Sometimes it is constant and sometimes it is intermittant.
I have managed to control it a bit. If its not already making the noise, and driving over about 25mph, and I veer right it will make the noise. If it is already making the noise, veering left will make it stop as long as I am veering left. Is this a bearing going bad?

Most probably a bearing or a CV joint...

I would say wheel bearing.

I think I have the same sound but under slightly different circumstances. I get the sound while taking right turns going uphill but not on the left hand turns. Going straight or downhill I have no sounds.
I'm curious about this one myself but since it's not a grinding or growling sound but more like a squeal, I'm not that worried. Should I worry?

Finally got a chance to get up under the car. I think its a CV joint. I discovered the inner boot on the passenger side has failed.

Just an update. I finally got around to changing out the axle.
I went ahead and did both sides. Decided I needed new calipers, new rotors and new soft brake lines while I was at it. Been driving it for a couple days and no squealing as of yet. In retrospect I think it was actually the right rear caliper that was the culprit. The inside piston had a cracked seal. Oddly it wasn't leaking any fluid.
