vac pump leaks from the top?
Hi,
I have some oily goop on the front of my engine block. The funny thing is, it seems to come from the top of my vacuum pump. I don't leak PS fluid, and the valvecover gasket in this area doesnt leak. No signs of a leak at the headgasket, so I have to believe, since the majority of gunkis from atop the vacuum pump, that it is the culprit. Has anyone seen them leak from the top, where it mates to the block? The pump works great, and Ive never had an issue with oil in the vac lines, or low vac performance. Can I just remove the pump and replace the gasket, or is it a very complex task? Thanks very much, JMH

What is the possibility that the vacuum pump is sucking trans fluid from a faulty trans modulator valve...
Just trying to speculate... |

trans fluid level hasnt changed since I replaced the fluid and filter about 12k ago.
modulator was a bit oily inside the cap last time I was tinkering with it... I ought to replace it for good measure, I guess. Thanks, JMH
