In stock configuration you may notice a drop in fuel economy as diesels prefer heated charge for volumetric efficiency ratings and volatility of the fuel. Turbo compensates for this issue as many have found the intercooler is for extreme racing engines and adds only a bit of performance in the street.

Mike,
1) what data do you have that says adding fuel to a cool charge adds HP? a heated charge is actually less air, because cool air is more dense than hot air. Think of hot air balloons

2) If an intercooler only adds a bit of performance as you claim, why would MB be putting intercoolers on new turbo diesels including the W210 diesels, the diesel G-wagon, the W208 CLK, the CDI diesels, heavy duty diesel trucks, and gas engines with turbos as well? Intercoolers are a worth while addition to a turbo anything.

I suggest adding anything besides Nitro or water injection is a waste
and will only make smoke.
