Hello all.
Was checking out the front of my '01 240/6, and noticed a few stone chips! After 1500 miles of mostly in town driving! Since I plan on keeping the car 15+ years, those chips concerned me. I looked into the "clear bra," thinking I wouldn't like it, since it sounds kinda tacky. It seems like it would be really noticeable, esp. around the edges, may harm the paint, etc. After doing some research and speaking with a half dozen or so people who have it and love it, I decided to give it a try. Ordered it from xpel.com, although there are others that sell the same things. Its a special material made by 3M especially for paint protection. I installed it myself, and while I was able to do it and they call it "do it yourself," it was a little difficult. It took about 3 hours for me to get it on right! But, in the end, I am *very* pleased with it! It really is unnoticeable. In most lighting conditions, you literally can't see it at all, even the seams. And even when you have the right light, the edges are just barely visible, you really have to be looking for it to notice it. The stuff seems very durable, I doubt even a fairly large rock would damage the paint. Anyways, just thought I'd pass along my experience, as a satisfied customer. I highly recommend the stuff for cars that have a lot of paintwork on the front end. |
