WTB - Interesting car

I sold the 250C and now have a hole in the garage and money burning a hole in my pocket. I am on the lookout for an interesting car and my preference is for one that needs some work.

I am in Chicago - let me know what you have.

Burning money eh? Interested in the TurboWedge so I can buy another Benz? I could drive it up to Chicago and take the train back to school in IL. 5 Speed joystick/Turbo/Digidash/Gold Wheels! Pics are from when I bought it so it's cleaner now. Also, 4wd, everything works.

Interesting Mercedes

I have a 1983 380 SEL I bought in Florida 2 years ago. It needed a lot when I bought it, and I've improved it a bunch, but it still has away to go to be as perfect as I'd like. I've gotten "diesel fever" lately so I'm lusting after carson357s SDL and want to sell mine to make room for his or one like it. I'm located close to Chicago, about 20 miles south of Rockford.

GOOD STUFF
  • Run strong, starts easily in any weather
  • Transmission shifts as it should
  • Heat and AC both work
  • MBTek seats are in great shape, no rips, tears or wear
  • All windows work
  • Power seats work
  • Has brand new original MB mats (a Christmas present I've yet to step on)
  • New Pioneer head unit with single cd, aux plug-in on front panel and remote
  • New tires, replaced in October
  • New brake pads and flex hoses last summer and a new master cylinder last week
  • All wood redone
  • Sunroof works
  • All new ignition - plugs, distributor cap, rotor, coil and ignition control unit
  • New fuel pump, fuel filter and fuel pump relay
  • New coolant expansion tank and pressure and flow tested used radiator
  • New lower ball joints
  • New steering damper
  • Straight, rust free body
  • Instruments all work except clock and outside temp display
  • New. non-stock, mufflers

THINGS TO DO
  • Needs paint. It's been painted before but not well
  • Climate control still needs sorting out. It has good heat & AC but the blower motor isn't properly controlled. It's either low speed, medium high speed or full speed, nothing in between. It also needs one or more vacuum pods replaced
  • Cruise control does not work. Actually it works briefly about once in a blue moon. Hopefully a resolder job on the amp will set it right
  • All the glass is unbroken, but it would benefit greatly from a new windshield and back glass (both show delamination in the corners.
  • It uses about 1 quart per 1,000 miles
I'm going to put it up on ebay in the next few days. If you are interested I'll post some good photo, and you are welcome to look at it before it goes up.

I'm in Oregon, Illinois, about 20 miles south of Rockford. I paid $1500 2 years ago. My quess is it will go for about that now on eBay, maybe a little less. I'm wide open to offers.

I would consider parting with my 1963 300SE fintail. Air suspension, fuel injection, 4 wheel disc brakes. 70 some pictures online here:
http://www.w108.org/gallery/view_album.php?set_albumName=63_300SE

It was an estate deal. It has had one owner other than me since the 60s. It sat in a garage since 1974 and still has that plate on the front. It has not been run or driven since it was parked in 1974. The engine turns over by hand.

It is a eurospec car with metric gauges. This was the M100 before there was an M100.

It is in Southeast Wisconsin.

I would ask $4,000.

One must assume after sitting for 35 years that all systems need to be gone through, brakes, suspension, fuel, etc.

The interior is excellent.

I have a 1978 240D, 4speed with a very good interior and paint (it shines!!!). Comes with hubcaps, original first aid kit, brand new battery, oil and all filters changed.

Asking $3500 --- will get you pics.

So that's what a $500 distributer cap looks like....
