I think your car will sell as a driver, but.......if you decide to pull the engine and trans I am very interested in buying the body for a few hundred dollars, and trailering it up to Baltimore.

My 84 190D 5 speed is an unrepairable rust bucket, but it refuses to die. We ignore it for months, but it starts right up. I would transplant it's mechanicals to your mostly rust free body.

Have you seen it?

I still haven't had my questions answered.

neumann 11-22-2011 09:04 AM

I will catch up with questions later today. Busy at work. Thx

Just a couple questions:

1. Really, how much rust and where is it?

2. Given the fuel / air leak you described, can the vehicle be driven home? Can I take a planbe ride, then drive it back, like I did for benhogan's 350SDL?
Thanks

I would not see a reason why it could not make the trip. If it were me I'd go through a few checks before hitting the road. With that being said remember its been sitting for awhile and I can guarantee a trouble free ride back to Michigan

there is a engine shock absorber? On front of engine that needs replacing, the lower mounting piece seemed to have a rubber bushing that has gone bye bye, the shock absorber rattles....

Theres rust in one rear wheel well, I think passenger side. Can't say for the underside as I have never had it on a lift. I can have better pics of areas of rust on Friday. I have the day off from work and I'll have time then. Thx

If it comes to that point you have a good shot at it. Thx

How do I post pics from an ipad2?

Found an answer. Tapatalk app. Seems to work well for 3 bucks :)

I saw the pics and am going to pass on the car. It looks to be too big of a project for me to want to deal with. Thank you.

Since you have replacement seats, would you be willing to part with the passenger seat bottom upholstry on the existing seat shown in the photos? I can pick up local in Jacksonville. PM me is interested.

The good seats will go with the car if the offer is good enough. if the buyer gets the new seats Ill work something out with you on the seat bottom. Where are you located?

Do you still have the car? I had one of those for 6 years, and I loved it!!!! I also buffed out the paint on mine (actually, paint shop did when they replaced door skin) and it looked new. Depending on the tires used, the mileage is 36 to 40 mpg. Also, does the AC work? Has the car had regular maintenance? Would you be interested in a trade for a low-mileage (200K) '83 300D? Has a strong drivetrain, not much mileage on the rebuilt auto tranny . .. very strong car. I miss the mileage though.

neumann 11-29-2011 08:36 PM

I have it. I might be interested. Pm me with some pics. Thx

Ac is not working, I don't have ants records on the cars maintenance

I prefer the w123 series over the 190d's

In response to a couple of pm's here is some info The car has sat for over 2 yrs has an air leak in the fuel system at the secondary fuel filter needs an engine shock absorber, I have driven it maybe 2 miles to a storage area and that was it.

Probably needs glow plugs as well. I'd tow the car I was getting it. I have no interest in getting it running as a daily driver. If anyone is interested I'd suggest a road trip and come take a look.

If no one buys it I am pulling the engine and trans and scrapping the rest. Pulling what's of resal value and posting parts here or on eBay. Heck I might donate it to the local gun range for a target. I'll use the eng/trans to repower a jeep or truck.

See the previous posts for links to pics and other details. Pm Me if you want to see the car. Thanks. In a month or so it will be gone one way or another.

Save a 190d 5 speed and feel good in the process. I dislike the body style, looks like a baby w124 :). the w124 was a classic but I much more prefer the w123 over the 201 or 124

Shoot me interesting trade offers. I like 50-60 American classics, other euro cars, guns, a bucket of gold :). I want it gone from my storage area. I may have delivery options of a friend with a truck and a car hauler but he will need to be compensated for his time, gas and etc.
