Thanks for the comments. I've located 2 1988 560 SELs, and 1 1989 560 SEL, but I'm still holding out for a 1990 or 91. The 1988s have about 190,000 KM and the 1989 has 245,000 KM. Do any of your neighbours, in or near Toronto, have one locked in their garage? I'll knock on their door, and ask them to sell it. I'll take very good care of it.

Neighboros???

....me thinks not..From what I've been told, Canada is VERY restrictive about importing USED privately owned vehicles.
Don't know for sure.
Given any thought to the 300/350 SDL ?
Same great creature comforts plus better gas mileage, & lower maintaince costs.
lol.

I've heard the 350 SD/SDL have a very bad engine. Usually pistons 1 & 4 get scored, and are very expensive to fix. There are comments in the alt.mercedes forum on this issue. I'd be interested in a 300 SD or 300 SDL, but with the cold canadian winter, diesels usually are more difficult to start than gasoline engines. When the temp. drops to -40c, even the gasoline engines have a hard time starting. This why I prefer a gasoline engine here in Canada.

The 300 SD and SDL are hard to find. I haven't seen any listed in the last month. Even with the potential starting issue in cold weather, I'd probably like to try one. Comments?

Wanted-560sel in toronto

I have 1987 300SDL and live in Innsifil near Barrie. GREAT CAR! But I want a W140 chassis. So I will be seling it, not a perfect car but a great driver.

Starts fine in the winter don't let rumors foll you about starting diesels. Plug it in and it is fine.
Below -18C (0F) isreally when you may have issues if the car is not properly maintained.
I get 26-28 Mpg combined out of it, you'll be lucky to get 18 Mpg on the highway with the 560. But great RIDE THOUGH!
w126 CHASSIS IS BUILT PROOF!

Anycar over 15 years of age there are NO restrictions on importing it into Canada. It is easier than bring a car in the states. I know I've done both. LOL! check out this website for details.

All of the 1991s on eBay are in US, which are too big of a problem to bring into Canada. Still looking for that 1990-91 560 SEL in Toronto or Ontario.
