Is it worth it?

I found a 1986 190E 16V on auto trader for $5,950. I could not beleve it so I call and found out that the car had been written off, due to water damage (it has 150,000 miles and had 20% damage). From what I understand the water went up the exhaust. I dont know how bad it could be but, even if I were to do some work on the car and put some money into it I think I could get a better car for the money.
Am I right ?
Should I stay away ?

I also foud a Mossman turbocharged 16V in Ross,OH for only $7,900. This also seems to good to be true. I have not called and am not sure what the mileage is.

I am looking for a 16V but there are none in the Tampa St.Pete area.
