Question Chip for a 420SEL

superchips.com says they have a performance chip for my car( '88 420SEL) , but they need the number that's on my computer before I order one. They said it's on the passenger side, by the windshield, and that's it's a black aluminum box, but I can't find it. Is it under the battery? I'm reluctant to unhook the battery to look because I will lose all of my precious settings on my CD player. Thanks for any help.

I just took a look under my hood and didn't see asnything like that either. I have two small black boxes on the other side near the brake fluid reservoir that look like they could be relays or small CPUs. I didn't check under the battery. Sounds like you have made some cool mods to your car. Do you have pics on the net anywhere? Let us know if you do get the chip and how it works out.

420SEL: Sorry, no pics yet. I took some last sunday, and had some real good turnouts, but I've yet to do anything with 'em. If you want, I could email them to you. I'd like to see your car as well.

300e performance

There is one 300e engine that probably is overall the best rated engine out of them all, a european 300e , higher lift cam and bigger pistons . I wanted a 300e and I searched everywhere the only one I wanted was a euro though. It took me 6 months to find it but I did. Paid 2000. for it and went through the engine and modified the pressure orphace in the valvebody to make the shifts long but quick . We put the car on the 1/4 mile meter and I am running high 14's . I am gonna take this engine out next year and build a turbo and see how it does. If you know a good Mercedes transmission tech he can do modifications internally on the valve body and make a big differance . When I did mine it was trial and error ( took 4 times to get it right ) . I love this car , I will change my rear diff later and see what happens with it . By the way the fastest I ever got this car was at 147mph so far . Kinda nervous over that. We are also working on my stainless steel exhaust now with custom muffler and resonator.
