How do I make this relay?? Thanks!!! P.S. Right now my car is incapasitated and sitting in my driveway so I had to get a ride to school today. Ha ha. Any help that you can give would be great! ShuPIMPsky,
If you are not familiar with basic electronics I would strongly suggest that you STOP what you are doing. A remote starter is not that difficult to install, but you do need some general electronics and automotive electronics knowledge. With that said, I will answer your questions. 1) Where do these wires come from on my car?? From what you wrote, they don't come from your car. The 2 "little wires" are coming from the remote starter unit. They sound like they are just the power wires. One goes to a (+) source and the other to ground. 2) Am I doing the correct wiring job so far?? No, you are not. Sorry to be so abrupt, but you asked. 3) I keep hearing that some sort of relay needs to be made in order for the door locks to be compatible with this system (Avistart 3001). How do I make this relay?? 190Guy already gave you the info regarding the relay setup. Look at your previous thread: http://www.peachparts.com/shopforum/showthread.php?threadid=22396 All you need are two relays. If you study the relay layout, you can easily see how it functions and how it will lock and unlock the doors. But remember, this type of work should only be done by someone who understands basic electronics. One incorrectly connected wire could lead to big problems! -David |

Yes, you're right, the two "little" wires do come from my remote start... but the ground source and the negative source that you are talking about. where do i find them on my car?? and if you say that i'm doing it wrong so far, what have I done wrong and how can I correct this?? Thanks!

P.S.
My dad is also a power engineer for Cincinnati Bell and is VERY VERY VERY knowledgeable in this field since he graduated with an electrical engineering degree. He's been helping me out so any adivse you give me, I can talk to him about and we can do it together like we've been doing. |

ShuPIMPsky,
Since I don't have the wiring schematic for your equipment its hard to get into specifics. FYI, negative, (-), and ground are all basically the same in this instance. It is the negative post of the battery. Your entire car frame is basically connected to the negative post of the battery. So any bare metal point on the car is a ground point. That's great that you have access to a EE. I would have him look over the wiring diagram for the equipment. Good luck! -David |
