Convert from mechanical to electronic speedo (124)

I'm installing a rebuilt transmission from a 126 into my 124, and it uses an electronic speedo pickup rather than a cable. I've located an electronic speedo head from an E420 as well as a Dakota Digital SGI-5 universal speed calibration device to dial in the difference between the diff ratios. Has anyone out there done this type of conversion before, and do you have any insights? Thanks
