supercharging an sl 320 18v v6

i have done a serch and cant find any info on a project i am gonna start for my friend.

he has a slow and boring sl 320 with the m112 engine in it.

the engine is the same externally as the c32 amg/slk32 amg so we want to swap the engine from one of those into it.

anyone done this yet? any help will be appriciated, dont want the kleeeman low pressure info, just fesability of sawpping from c class to sl.

if your car isnt shiny, you dont know what you are talking about, remember; paint shine = knowledge. In order to be taken seriously, you should spend all your money on paint, (and get a dyno reading).
Dont forget to polish it often

This has been done. The main issue with a swap is if the car you have has the same CAN set up. If the ecu is the same generation as the c32 then you can order a new ecu for a c32 and code it to the vehicle with a star machine. If not then your best be is get a kleemann kit if they are still avail.

Beckman Technologies would know if the two CAN systems are similar even though the 18v V6 Sl320 doesn't exist in the states.

If you have someone available to you that can 'unlock' the ECU and nullify it's various safe guards to prevent the car from starting with the CAN system is not fully operational then all you need is the V6 and trans from the AMG car and the complete wiring harness. You could probably keep the stock trans in there but I would imagine it is weaker. Also the rear diff is probably a different ratio so you'll need the ECU to be readjusted for the new ratio as well.

This can be done. You will need the C32/SLK32/SRT6 engine with the ECU Engine harness and the other associated parts such as the heat exachanger. the heat exchanger from the SL55 is larger and better than the ones from the above cars. The mechanical swap is not that hard. You cannot just go order a ECU for this project. There is no CAN issues to check. The donor ECU must be unlocked and then reprogramed to the car using the Mercedes Star Diagnostic System in Developer Mode. You can buy cloned version of the STAR DAS system from China ad JC Recordings can sell you the key generator to unlock developer mode. Most MB mechanics have no knowledge of developer mode and it is in German only. It is a bit of a black art. Your best bet would be to do the mechanical work and then Have Rudy Compart do the programming. He can also do the entire swap. He is about the only one that can reprogram the ECU properly. He has been swaping 55K engines into Crossifres and other MB as well has a twin turbo V12 into MB that had a V8. Rudy is RCompart on Crossfireforum.org I used this same approach to swap a M113 V8 into my Crossfire.
