Supercharging 1996 C280 W202 104 L6

Im looking at fitting a paxton type supercharger to my 1996 Mercedes. Its still early stages for me at the moment and am seeking some advice and info on how to go about it.
The main problem i am already having is the availability of performance engine internals for this engine. I am assuming the maximum boost i will be able to run just bolting a blower on will be rather limited due to the engine being stock.
If i did just bolt on a blower, with a custom exhaust including custom headers, what would be the maxium boost i could run?
If i cant run any higher than 5psi with stock engine internals without blowing it up the whole exercise maybe pointless.
Im not sure sure how strong these engines are, has anyone modified these 2.8L straight 6's before?
Also whats the deal with intercoolers on superchargers, is that required or often done?
