E60 and EVO II Sway Bars
2Phast or others:
Assuming I could source the E60 front and EVO II rear sways do I use their respective inner and outer bushings as well to fit my 2.3-16 or do I need other bushings? I have the following part numbers, but need more: E60 Front bar124-323-01-65 E60 Inner bushing 129(?or 124)-323-01-85 x2 E60 Outer Bushing 124-323-51-85 x2 What are the EVO II's numbers needed? Assuming I can get them what are good prices? Thanks in advance.... Meek |

I have an EVO II rear bar on order through Beekers since July and am still waiting. They have provided good order status and service with a projected date of December (I hope).

I received only inner bushings for my E60 bar, the outter bushings were trimmed using a dremel.
For the EVOII bar, I used Integra Type R bushings, which were just a tad larger than the EVOII bar, they worked just fine. Don't have any bushing part numbers though. |

Meek:
The numbers for the Evo II rear bar is 201-326-37-65. You also need 2 rubber mounts (201-326-16-81) or the mounting kit (201-320-04-47). I found a contact at Daimler Chrysler in Germany, a factory parts guy, who can send me the parts as long as I am in Europe; he can't send swaybars to the USA (I think it's also a policy problem). I have tried Bekkers on the phone but they say they won't take any more orders for the bar because of this new mercedes policy that you must be an Evo II owner. Anyway, can anybody get the rear sway bar? Let me know. Bekkers has the sportline rear bar (too small, probably smaller than stock 16mm 16v bar) and also an AMG rear bar. Does anyone know how to find out the diameter of this bar (Bekkers doesnt know)? Thanks I am getting desperate.

Man, that stinks!! I wanted to get the EVO II rear bar! Besides, what's the logic behind only selling to EVO II owners (less than 500 of them)?!? Come on! This is a profit making opportunity!!
What gives? Later!

Maybe, but honestly, how often does a swaybar need to be replaced unless the car is wrecked?

yes, but if they're not manufacturing any more, and everyone else is buying them up, eventually they're going to run out.
i'm not saying this is what they're doing, it's just one of the possibilities.

Yeah, that's true.
So, what are the alternatives? Can rear bars from other models be fitted? Obviously, it will be more difficult than fitting an E500 bar to the front... Any ideas? Later!

w201 bars have an extra bend over w124 bars. Does anyone know why this is and what the bend is there for? I have heard of 500E rear bars, also 18mm, being rebent to give clearance and then put on our cars.

I have heard lots of different things, but without someone available WHO HAS DONE IT your pretty much left in the dark.
Eibach makes a sway bar kit for the 190, it is just a bit smaller than the E60/EVO II combo. If I remember right, the rear bar is 1 or 2 mm smaller. Still larger than the sportline bar. If that kit wasn't $500+ dollars, I would of picked it up. |

Hey 2phast. Yea the Eibach is 17mm in the rear (1mm smaller) and only 25mm in the front (still bigger than a stock 16v swaybar). I may just get the rear eibach bar and sell the front one in order to get a 500E bar. Can you tell me though why the w201 have an extra bend in the rear swaybar over the w124 models? Did you notice anything when you installed your swaybars? Thanks a lot.
