Yellow 500 spotted So Cal...

I was at a friend's shop when a yellow 500E/E500 drove by. I know that someone on this site has either had or has this car. Can anyone confirm this. Just curious to see if it really is a small world. By the way it was in the Van Nuys area.

The yellow "E500" is really an E420 / 400E that he coverted over with the 500E style front and rear fenders.

It still has the 4.2 liter engine and the standard back seat without the center console.

Yeah, I think his car was featured in a magazine or something and that's sorta how the cat was let out of the bag

Dawgit Boy!! I hate it when that happens!!

Don't ya hate it when that happens? Oh well, that's the way it goes sometimes. Although, a e420/400e is about 75% of a 500e, so at least it had the V8. My plan is to have a 400e/e420 with the old school AMG body kit and maybe a sportline interior and some interior goodies. Oh, and of course the obligatory 2.82 rear end.... and the SLK mirrors....black pearl.....ah....wake up!! Time to go to work!!!

Upon further inspection....

The yellow e500 DOES have the Sportline rear seat!! You can see it in the "seat detal" pic on the website. I don't know the engine compartment details, but I wonder if anyone can verify if it truly is an e500.

I wonder when he put the sportline rear seat in.

I saw the car and talked to the owner of the car at a recent GTG.

It is not an E500...

Yellow 500 spotted So Cal...

Saw a green 124 that had 500E emblems and fender flares on the northbound 405 in the Valley this past Sunday. No idea if it was a real one. Looked a little rough, but it was all one color. If the flares were added, it was a long time ago.

the yellow 500e you spotted is my best friends car(albert) the back seats where custom stitched to match the 500e seats a replica was used to match the exact stitching....the car is a 400E and if u want to see it ever just drop by Tujunga he lives 2 blocks away from me..if your ever in the area its a car thats worth the while too many upgrades too list....but ya it is a tad eye catching..

1992 500E RennTech

Got to drive one of these bad boys this past Saturday. Full RennTech engine mods (400+ HP). Man, was that a sweeeet car -- smooth and fast It's also for sale at ******** Los Gatos (CA); they're asking $21,900, not a bad price seeing it had $45k worth of work done to it this past year (receipts). Yeah, some rich Californian -- there are still a few of them around

Brian
