CL55 on the Autobahn....wow!

I'm in Germany right now and I am having fun looking at all the cars, most specifically Benzes on the Autobahn!! A great number of MBs over here are diesels (esp. the 270 CDI), but every once in a while you'll see a jaw dropper. Yesterday there was an S55 cruising around downtown. I thought that was cool...until today I was on the Autobahn and a new CL55 blows past us with its 4 tailpipes blaring. This thing was very audible!!! I believe he was even slowing down because of traffic up ahead and as he passed us you heard a loud WAAAAOOOOOOO. Helluva rumble out of a bone stock Benz (albeit an AMG). So that made my day.

Other notibles....saw a few new 600s, a few 500s (engines this big are quite a rarity here). Over the weekend I was in Paris and saw a Maybach!! Just cruisin around town. First one I had ever seen. Lotsa nice cars in Paris! Lotsa junk too.

It's amazing though, the 124, 210 and 211s are everywhere here!!! Bout as common as a Camry in the states. Almost every other car is an E Class. Also, the majority of taxis are 210s and 211s. This just makes we wonder with all the supposed unreliability of these models you hear about.....if they are so unreliable, why is every other car over here one of them?? Seems like if they were so bad, people wouldn't still be driving the old ones and at the same time buying new ones. There are also a lot of 201s.

One big surprise..the number of MLs here. I thought the SUV thing would never catch on at all here, not even a little bit, but I have seen quite a few of them. Most of them ML270 CDIs.

MBs I haven't or have hardly seen: 126s, 107s, 129s, 140s.
