ASR Lite

Hi I have a 94 600SL in my shop that has been to a Dealer and other shops for this ASR problem. He is a friend but that my change in the future

My dilema is reading the codes, I have a Snap-On and the new OTC scanner's both with mercedes software, is the trans mode the same as the ASR mode? If it is I cannot communicate w/it, no problem talking to the others. Happy for any help and I mean happy!!!!!
