Cheers

Not sure what Mercedes recommends but Porsche has an excellent cleaner and dressing.

I just purchased the "Convertible Top Care Kik" from Performance products. It comes with a cleaner, sealer and plastic window cleaner. It did an excellent job but it is a bit pricy $50.00.

I use the Auto Glym Convertible Top Care Kit and I am very satisfied with it. First I vacuum the top and remove any bird *****e first. Then I spray the cleaner product liberally all over and agitate it with the lump of rough polystyrene supplied; really scrub it up. Finally I hose off and spray liberally with the protectant. The top looks cleaner and newer and water beads on it for a good while. The product does two or three treatments (you have to apply loads of it). It is 20quid well spent in my view.

Only downside is that you have to remove any protectant overspray from the windows and paint, but this is no chore: any proprietary paint cleaner or AG Super Resin Polish/Glass Cleaner will remove it. I normally clean the top, then wax the car.

I use the MB products to clean my canvas. About every two years I use a cabriolet impregnating spray made by MB. This seals and waterproofs the canvas so the water will bead on the top and roll off when it hits it. When applying, do it after the top is clean, tape off the rear plastic windows and put sheets all over the rest of the car. In other words, lay a sheet over the entire car and manually raise the soft top so it sits on top of the sheet, the sheet protects the rest of the finish. Also cover the rest of the car to ensure no overspray hits the finish. Good luck.

Get the 303 Product for canvas tops

Just Mask, cover, and then cover again any surfaces you don't want the spray on. It's a B********H to remove, even from glass surfaces

Check the pix of the wet top after treating

Whoops, failed to read Brian's post completely! Wonder if it's available here in the UK. I need to pop into the dealer shortly anyway so I'll ask here and update accordingly.

Cheers
Lea
