hidden compartment arm rest

hi all.

ive seen in a few pictures some SL's with an open and close compartmet center arm rest..

i dont think its factory, but does anyone know where to get this?

You didn't say which SL you own. I think Performance Products sells wood boxes that match the type of wood you have in the car. The box fits in the center console and has a lid.

ive seen those burlwood boxes what do you think of them?


B T W i have an 88 560SL white/ brown 80k mint beautiful car


if you look on oursl.com


one of the 560SL has a usual armrest but it has a lid that opens

They are certainly nice looking and I can appreciate the quality wood used. However, that's is an expensive storage bin that isn't secured to the car and has no locking mechanism. I have never needed extra storage space in any of my cars. The glovebox is for owner's manual, registration, a pen, some napkins, that's it. The ashtray is for loose change.

yeah i totally agree with you about not needing extra storage either..


I cant wait to do my vavle seal gaskets... and drive my car like a new car afterwards!!
