I eventually resorted to another fix for floppy visors, significantly more permanent though not without its own potential unintended consequences: Replaced the 560SL with an SL500. Wish me luck on the top cylinders!

Just to reinforce, the leather-shim-to-give-more-resistance fix isn't nearly as hard as it might seem, and it worked fine for the 6 years I had the 107 after doing it.
