129 Instrument cluster removal photos
I am about to remove the instrument cluster on my '90 SL. Does anyone have pictures of the cluster removed so that I can see the clips/catches that must be moved for removal? I want to avoid the dreaded cracked clear piece syndrome. Any tips, hints, suggestions will be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Be sure to lower the steering wheel all the way, then disconnect the battery. Use a credit card to break the "seal" around the perimeter of the cluster. I had no difficulty using the Mercedes J tools. Just go slow and easy.

129 Cluster removal Thank you!!
Thank you so much for the tips! Just a pressure fit? I do not know if I can lower the steering - the key will not turn in the ignition. I have tried all the typical jiggle, wiggle, vibrate, graphite, tri-flo things. Any suggestions? I am considering cutting the tumbler out of the vehicle and need to remove the cluster and the dash. I have read some of the posts about the tumbler failure and removal. Is there anyone out there that has done the job? I would love to be in communication with someone that has cut that darn lock out of the car. Thanks again for your help!

The dash is simply pressure fit and has no clips. Scan down this thread as I have posted my recent dash removal tips and pictures to help. http://www.peachparts.com/shopforum/showthread.php?t=137883 Here's some video also - http://www.mbca.org/northtexas/R129D2-Dash%20removal[1].mpeg Also see my reply to your tumbler thread.
