looking for rear interior package panel, R107

I am in need of an interior base panel for 1983 SL. Its the carpet covered flat wooden piece behind the seats in the package area. Would like dark blue, but will be flexible (actually need only the wood to be structurally OK). Need for speaker install, don't want to cut the original panel. Thanks!

I just built one of these out of Masonite. It is dead easy esp. if you have the old one for a pattern. It is no problem to cover iether.

As junky as the Masonite might seem, I'd definitely use this material or something like it. I seem to recall that this is the wood material of choice because it doesn't send splinters through people in an accident.

I made one out of "MDF" for the same reason. I put the original in storage.

Thanks for the safety tip. I was hoping to avoid the labor of making one, but after seeing what kind of offers I got, its off to the shop. I expected used (dirty or torn carpet, but with good wood, to be the the $35 range. I was off by more than a bit). Open letter to those seeking $150+... If its worth that much to you, I won't make you part with it

Hanno,
I saw one install that built a second panel on top of the original that looked good. I can not find the link to it. But he duplicated the hole at the front center and said the it worked like a bass port. This also gave him a place to mount his amp out of site.
