From my UK thread..http://www.mbclub.co.uk/forums/showthread.php?t=26860

You should consider the following Manufacturers:

Aresma GmbH and
Eurotop GmbH http://www.eurotop.de/site_eng/impressum.htm

as both companies use OEM Wopavin flex-glass with correct thickness and sonnerland-dralon or identical weave canvas.

I'm waiting for a little further information from both before I make any more comment.

As mentioned by PM - please do let us know what you purchased and why.

Lea

New softop for 99 sl

I am having my installed today and tomorrow by a local guy in Newington Ct. that is experienced on Sl's. I purchased my own German canvas from AA Best at Ebay for 488.00. The installer wants 12 Hours at 80.00, I've had other quotes and they range from 10-15 hours for labor.
If he does a good job i'm still saving half of the price on the canvas top purchase, he wanted 1000.00 for sonodeca canvas.

I would like a copy of the video for my own reference if someone could please send it to me.

I'll post the finnal result as soon as I pick up the car tomorrow.

Thanks to all.

I am using the video to see how tough it is to just pull the back piece and replace the windows. My top is in pretty good shape

I need to replace my top (91SL 300)also, actually I only need to replace the windows, but for the long haul (I feel) it is better to replace the whole top. I could save lots of money if I can do it myself. Thanks.

new softop for Sl 129

Just picked up the car, the top looks real good and the installer acually only charged 10 hours @ 70.00. He stated that the material is not as strong as the original MB product and the windows were a lighter gage.

According to Best-Man top from ebay (German canvas 488.00) this product is equivalent or better the the OEM and they guaranty it 5 vs 1 year, we'll see.

Any way 1200.00 later I have a new top, sure beats the dealer price.
