Please Comment Good or Bad idea

I have always like the dual hump look behind the head rest so I tried to mock one up for my 86 560sl. Let me know what you think. If you have a picture of a real one I would love to see it.

Ummm....errrm...ahhh...let's call it an "acquired taste."

Personally, I think it interferes with the clean, flat lines of the car.

I am with you on the dual hump look. You are on the right track. Height looks good but the humps
should extended to the rear of the top cover lid.

Humps work on camels. Leave the classic look alone. My 2 cents.

well........

It is a good idea to cover that area, but make it flat, it needs to match the slope of the trunk, which is nearly flat.

it might be a lot better without the humps.

just my opinion...

In my opinion, it looks fugly. You were attracted to the SL for a reason. Yes?

On the other hand, it would make a good windscreen.

In the eye of the beholder. I happen to like the straightness and simplicity of the 107 lines, and find the bumps a distraction. OTOH, it probably looks better than my folded windscreen does in a parking lot. If I were interested in a cover for the package area, I'd probably make something in fiberglass that's flat and attaches like the windscreen does, painted to match the body color, echoing the effect of the top well cover.

Sorry to say, but I think it looks BLOODY awful. Don't hurt the classic look. It is what it is and it is quite perfect untouched!

Survey says BAD IDEA

All Thanks for the replies.
I have scraped this idea. The humps end up to short in height to make a resonable windscreen. Also they cannot be made long enough to mak it look good. The reason I was considering this was two fold. I am attempting to make my sound system better and if the humps could have worked it would have given me a good place to mount my 6x9's at ear level.

I will post my final speaker box here when I am done. I will end up filling in the hole flat with the top cover and add a windscreen on top of it.

Still trying to decide what to cover it with. Car is Artic White with blue interior.

i liked it.....kindof a madonna look.

maybe if you added a lacy bra.

just kidding.

keep thinking though. thinking will make things happen.

the hump think looks good on the pontiac sports car...astrix?...also the 300slr had them in the fifties. other race cars as well. so maybe if you could extend them over the trunk it would look ok. course getting in the trunk would be dicey!

oh well.
