Well, I finally got a chance to see the '82 280SL today.
The engine sounded like a sewing maching, the clutch was on its last legs and, most importantly, there were a number of spots in the floor that already had rusted through. The paint job, which was relatively new, looked like a MAACO job with a good amount of "orange peel". Needless to say, it wasn't the car I was looking for!!!!! |

"The engine sounded like a sewing machine"
Is this a positive or negative comment? Bummer about the rust, but it still might be a buy at a reduced price for the driive train.

if i said it runs like a sewing machine that would be a good comment.
also if i said it runs like a pickle seeder, that would be good too. if i said it ran like $hit, that would be a bad thing. heh, heh. tom w

Remember there is a 106K mile automatic donor car that is included in the deal. I didn't see the donor but he said the car was hit in the rear. He lives in Ambler, Pa. about 25miles N. of Phila. (about a 2 1/2 - 3hr drive from Falls Church) |
