leaking soft and hard top
My 74 450sl soft top and hard tops both leak from the top of the windshield. I know that most things on a MB are adjustable. Do I just need to adjust the cam pins on the top a little shorter to tighten it up? Or What.
I'm a little tired of driving with an umbrella... |

Little plastic thingies
There should be little nylon inserts around the rim of the wholes in the windshield. They are the guilty party if your top moldings are in good shape. They only cost a couple of bucks from your friendly local MB Stealer. Cheapest thing I ever bought there.

water leak
It may be the windshield. Water should not reach the pins. Those O rings do not keep out the water.

Well. The plastic inserts were completely trashed.
maybe 25% left. I'll give it a try. This has been going on for the 3 or 4 years that I have owned the car... |

I went to the dealer to get the O rings. They completely cured the leak.
On the other hand though, I did sit in a new SLK280. |

Leaking 91SL 129
My soft-top and hard-top are both leaking in the top corners "near" where the tops contact the frame, any suggestion on a 91SL 129? The water has damaged my hard-top head lining and now it needs replacing.
![]() ![]() A little history: Recently, I had the front window replaced, and a new soft-top installed on the car. |

Leak Fixed
I took the car to the mechanic and he knew how to adjust the hard top for a better fit; that fixed the hard top leak. For the soft top he loosened the door; I had tightened it to tight and that caused the soft top to shift and leak at the post, and that fixed the soft top.
