Greetings... I've read a few threads regarding those leaky front cylinders from a few SL owner. I figured sooner or later it' would happen to me. Well, it happened. I got them repaired by Dennis in KS (Thank God for this site)Got them this morning and should have them install this evening.
BTW, just out of curiosity, last night, decided to check my hydraulic fluid level. Everything looked normal considering the car is 12 years old, it even looked clean to my surprise except for some black residue at the bottom of the filter. Well i'm here to tell you that visually inspecting fluid through your reservoir could be counter intuitive. Sometimes things aren't what you might think or appear to be on these cars. Well after removing the fluid and the reservoir, I got a big surprise..."Black sludge". At least that what it looked like. I removed copius amount of that stuff. Cleaned the container and refilled with MB fluid. I qt = $21.00 an MB dealer.
So if you haven't replaced your hydraulic fluid, this is an inexpensive preventative maintenenace that shouldn't take no more than 30 mins.
