Long SHot But - Need electrical connectors for 450SL

I am into the engine bay and need to replace several of the injector electrical connectors, the little white jobs, also several of the temp sensor connectors need replaced. Where does one find these kind of connectors and the other varrious ones I need. I have looked but cannot locate them, any ideas?
Sure wish I had a 73 parts car!

They aren't OEM, they MIGHT fit but they look like they're for newer-style injectors (See the metallic clip inside the black housing). Your best bet is junkyard-dogging up some stuff!

Am I the only one that inquires first at the dealer and then proceeds to buy 90% of the parts there because they are OEM and reasonably priced?

As far as my local stealership goes in my case, either your area dealer is VERY kind or you have an overflowing wallet. Here in N. Cal every little thing from them inflicts extreme pain.

Jeez...maybe the dealers in Canada aren't gouging us as much as they do in the U.S. That and we get screwed buying parts across the border. I'm with you Nobby. I always start with the dealer to see parts prices are ...if only to get a baseline. I'd say 1/2 the times I can get parts as cheap or cheaper than from other sources - usually the smaller things. Other things, such as mufflers for example, they deserve the name stealership.

No, he's not.

One CANNOT have a mature ownership experience believing dealers are out to get them.

Some are better than others and it's up to you to find them.

Just think, you could own a Chevy or a Toyota and none of these parts would be available.

It's just so tiresome to hear so many folks that won't try complaining about their life and how everyone's out to get them.

This one is reasonable and if you do a little work, i.e. subscribe to EPC, you can order genuine parts quite reasonably.

An older Mercedes screwed up with a bunch of Pep Boys parts is basically wortheless.

I went to my local scrap yard and bought some off a variety of old peugeout's, saab's etc that looked just like the ebay ones (except 50c each) but had to use my dremel tool to cut out a little tab on the inside. They fit over the connector rather than into it but work just great. I did it for a new harness for a megasquirt installation
cheers

my dealership charges 2-3 times what I can find either on ebay or here.
What about using eletrical line shrink wrap on the ones where the wire is exposed. They have some high temp stuff, Most of my connectors are fine, I am just not comfortable because most of the wires are exposed and electrical tape just dosent cut it , plus its ugly.
Thoughts?

Some dealerships are not to bad. The wear items I order from this site the small stuff I get locally and the big stuff comes from a dealer in socal. Now that dealership goes out of it's way to locate hard to find items. They once sent me to another dealership on a big ticket item so there would not be wait of two weeks.

every part for the EFI harness is available though the dealer network except the large white nylon connector at the brain box.

Visit a good foreign autoparts store and they should have a box of spares for the system too. The little white connectors come as pigtails to be soldered into the end of the harness.

I've been to my local MB dealer more times than I ever thought I would be. Originally I went with reluctance, as a last resort, when I couldn't find a part anywhere else or when I needed a part and I didn't even know what it was called. They always came through for me, and more times than not they had at least the same price I'd pay elsewhere. For example, I went yesterday and picked up the temperature gauge sending unit and the auxiliary fan sensor for my 75. Performance Products wanted $78 for them and then I would have paid shipping on top of that. I got them both from my MB dealer for a total (including tax) of $72. When I tore into the dash of my 78 and discovered the center valve distribution boot had disintegrated I couldn't find it anywhere - I didn't even know what it was called. I went to them, expected to pay through the nose for it, and got out of there for less than $40, part in hand.

If I ever need another servo, I'm certainly not going to the dealer. I can find a rebuilt - better than the OEM - for about 1/3 the price. But for a lot of parts the dealer is closer, better, and offers me the same or better price.
